One small step to organization!

Yesterday I received all my goodies from TheContainerStore.com and I have to say I love them! I feel so much more organized and now my lace is safe and secure in their own special home.

This is my new under the desk organizer.  It holds all my jewelry pieces, and samples.  It helps to have a place within hands reach to quickly grab when I'm working on a new design.

It has this really pretty whimsical design on it, and I can wheel it around if I need to move it:)

This is our new lace organizer. It matches our other organizer I picked up at Target a few weeks ago.

I even picked up a few desk drawer bins to place inside my lace shelves so it would be a little more organized.  I'm so happy, my office transformation is coming together!

A new idea that I love, found while I was surfing the blog world, is this tissue/really anything bin.  I thought you all might enjoy the free pattern:)  I plan on whipping up one of these for my office.

Rebecca

Using up Cardstock Scraps

A few years ago I tried out scrapbooking and couldn't quite get into it, and of course I realized this after I purchased quite a bit of scrapbooking cardstock paper.  I usually purchase little "thank you" cards to put in orders, but this time I thought I'd make my own:)  So here's how I did it:

Here's what you need

Bone Folder, Paper Cutter, Paper
If you don't own a paper cutter, scissors work great!

Next,

Paper cut into strips
First cut strips of paper into 2 1/4" rows

Next,
Cut Cards Out

Cut cards into 4 1/2" sections.  The finished card will be a square 2 1/4" size.

And finally,

Folded
Fold in half with bone folder, and write your message inside!

I'm so excited to finally use all my paper:)

Remember Dodgeball?

The last time I played dodgeball I had a My Little Pony lunch box:) and on October 23 we'll be rooting for those out there playing their hearts out for charity! One of my closest friends is a board member of The Relief Foundation, and when she called me up asking for a donation for her charity dodgeball game I was definitely on board (so we sent over 2 handbags).  The Relief Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to help those who have experienced great hardship from natural causes.  They have traveled to Haiti to help those effected by the earthquake and are now on a mission to raise more money to travel back and Haiti to offer more help.

Feel free to visit their site and if you live in the Pennsylvania area stop on by!

Beautiful Fall

We arrived home early last night, with just enough time to pick up the dogs from the kennel and prepare dinner.  We had a wonderful, yet chilly, weekend in Asheville, and are very excited to think of it as our future home (I know Tippi can't wait).

Landscape in Asheville, NC

We were able to visit the Biltmore, Downtown Asheville and of course my relatives:)  It's back to work this week, and I'm picking up some stylish organizing/decorating supplies this week...I'll fill you in later!

Overhaul...office style

We've become busier and busier as each month comes along, and my main desk doesn't seem to like the disorganization.  So I'm bringing you along a small (a few posts max) journey to organize and decorate the Rebecca office.

Below is our "BEFORE" photo.  I'm a little embarrassed with this image, and to be honest this is probably the closest to what it looks like on a regular week, and I tend to clean my office every week because I can't stand not finding anything.

Scary office Before photo

So first set of action was to pick up a new rug for the office!  Previously we have an old blue bath mat, that isn't really very appealing..so today we dropped over to Target and picked up with beautiful brown rug:)..we plan on painting the office a nice soothing color (a big change from the girly girl pink in the office now).

Our new rug

Another fun part of our office is our peg board that holds all our tools for making jewelry and more!  It's a simple peg board from Lowe's painted white and framed.  I love our peg board, it makes everything easier!!!

We'll be showing more of our office in days to come, and what new goodies we get:)

Enjoy,
Rebecca

Now before I post the scary photos of my office, I want to announce the winner of our Lace Necklace giveaway!!  And the winner is (drum roll please)....

On the search for a pup sweater

I know some of you may not be the type of person who puts sweaters on your little ones, but when the frigid air comes around this winter I am going to wrap my little girl up in a nice warm sweater:)  She already has several sweaters, mainly because she loves to spend time outside and and the usually come back muddy, and stinky.  So after many days looking around the internet I thought I'd share what I found and maybe even have you all share a few of your favorite sweaters for your little guys...wink wink:)

Getting Ready for the OOAK Show in Chicago

We were so lucky and blessed to be a winner in the Etsy OOAK contest!  Our lucky prize was a booth at the Chicago OOAK show this December where we will be showcasing and selling our designs! The One Of A Kind Show is a cash and carry type of trade show per-say. Artists from around the United States, and even the globe sell their designs to the public.  Now these artists aren't just your run of the mill designers, they create beautiful pieces that could easily be showcased in a museum.

Admission is $12.00 for adults and there are even cocktail parties on a few of the nights!
Here is one of the ceramic artists that will be at the show

We will be having our monthly give away tomorrow!

Halloween Garland from AllSorts

I love craft blogs! I'm a big dork when it comes to reading about crafts, looking at crafts, and making crafts.  So of course one of my favorite blogs is AllSorts, she is a talented artist who makes the cutest little designs.   Now while I was perusing her blog the other day I found this fabulous freebie she had listed, so I thought I'd post it on my blog for you to take advantage of too :)  Be sure to poke around her blog to see some of the other adorable ideas she comes up with.
 Happy Crafting!

Lace Dyeing

Today I have a busy day planned, lace dyeing time! We have about 9 new colors for the Spring/Summer 2011 season, ranging from light gray to fuchsia..and everything in between.  One thing that I love about dyeing your own fabric is that you have an infinite number of color options (all you have to do is dilute the color or add more pigment to change the hue, and BAM! a new color).

Because our lace is vintage taking care to protect the material during the washing process and dying process is VERY important.  So even though it adds quite a bit of time to the process we hand wash and hand dye the lace.  It's an easy process and allows me to have more control over the agitation.  I like to use a powder pigment because it gives me the ability to store my dyes for longer periods of time instead of having to use them all in one sitting.

I've found a site that gives you an easy step by step process to dying and I thought I'd share it with you! All about Dyeing, is a site that gives you detailed information for dyeing fabric, and the correct type of dye required for your fabrics fiber content.   So take the time to peruse the site and read over the instructions before you take the leap into dyeing, believe me it will help:)

So after a lot of practice, a few blue hands and many mistakes I've become quite comfortable with dyeing our lace and hope that you will enjoy our new colors coming out!

Happy Dyeing!

Hospice donation

For the past few days it's been dreary and rainy, so to add a little cheer to the day we decided to truck on over to our local Hospice and donate a few items! Here at Rebecca we love to give back to our community and this month we donated handbags to our local Shoppe for Hospice boutique (here in Calvert County).  Shoppe for Hospice is a high quality new and gently used brand-name clothing store, and all proceeds go directly to those in need at Calvert County Hospice.  Local Hospice's are always looking for donations and even you can help your community by donating gently used items that you no longer wear!  But be sure to check to see if your Hospice has a boutique to donate to first:)

I've posted a few items I found on Etsy.com where some or all of the proceeds go to those in need.
